Privacy Policy
1. About this policy
Points Map (“we”, “us”) provides the Points Map iPhone app and the website pointsmap.app (the “service”). This policy explains how we handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Contact: support@pointsmap.app.
2. What we collect and why
- A device-generated identifier, the points balance and trip goal you enter, and related setup information.
- Technical information about your use of the service, including optional usage analytics.
- Your subscription status, which we receive through Apple. We do not receive your payment details.
- Your email address and message, if you contact us.
We use this information to provide, secure, support and improve the service, and to respond to you. We do not require an account and do not ask for your name.
3. Award availability searches
When you search for award availability, your search details (such as route, dates, cabin and number of travellers) are sent from your device to the relevant airline’s publicly available services to retrieve results. Those services are governed by the airline’s own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive your airline account login.
4. Who receives information
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose it to:
- analytics and hosting service providers that help us operate the service, some of which are located overseas, including in the United States;
- the relevant airline services, for searches as described above;
- Apple, for purchases; and
- others where required or authorised by law.
Where information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
5. Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and to delete or de-identify it when it is no longer needed. No system is completely secure.
6. Analytics and your choices
You can turn off usage analytics in the app settings at any time. You can also delete the app or cancel your subscription through your Apple settings.
7. Access and correction
You may request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you by emailing support@pointsmap.app. We will respond within a reasonable time.
8. Complaints
Please contact us first at support@pointsmap.app. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above shows the current version.
